Located in a suburb of Nairobi, Kenya Kanga has been in existence since 2005. The company designs and produces a selection of clothing and apparel using the colourful Kanga material. The kanga is a brightly coloured cotton wrap worn by Kenyan ladies on a daily basis. Among the items produced using this material is clothing, flip flops and bags.

The Kanga material is imported from India and varys in a wide range of colours and designs. Each kanga has a swahili proverb or saying imprinted on the cotton which is translated into English on the packaging.

Kenya Kanga are developing a slection of products to complement the basic Kanga wrap. These include bags, flip flops and kaftans all made from the same bright and very distinct material.

Kenya Kanga employ five staff who work as tailors as well as helping with the ordering, administration and marketing of the kanga collection. As a young Kenyan company the future looks good with increased demand for a wider selection of products becoming a common trend.

Already Kenya Kanga are selling items in the USA where they are supported through grants and purchasing by a USA charity. With the connection to The Africa House it is hoped that the growth of Kenya Kanga in the UK and Europe will develop quickly providing greater employment opportunities for Kenyan staff. The benefit of this guaranteed employment on the staff and their immediate families is highly significant.
